THE CONCEPT OF EDUCATION

Our concept of preschool education is a development of individuality of a child, formation of self-care and self-control. Our main purpose is to educate and to form a child who developed basic skills; is able to express him(her)self freely; is self-motivated, self-confident, curious, and diligent; is eager to study and use it to his/her or society’s benefit.

Our program is based on balanced but at the same time determined and harmonic process of teaching with an effective use of physical and sensible skills in order to provide a child with comprehensive education in accordance with his/her developmental stage.
In compliance with this concept we are using A Designed Approach to Education by John Dewey who founded this approach along with his followers approximately 100 years ago.

What is Designed Approach to Education?

There are four different goals in education:

  1. Knowledge: e.g. reality, songs, stories, comprehension;
  2. Skills: e.g. basic activity, verbal or physical skills;
  3. Intellectual habits (temperament): e.g. curiosity, diligence, ability of determination of cause-effect relation, analysis, understanding and ability of drawing conclusion from events.
  4. Feelings: inborn, e.g. anxiety and etc.; and which are acquired gradually like trust, respect and etc.

This approach includes playing as children develop their observational and investigating habits. The projects help to make conclusions from the experiments conducted with use of intellectual habits.

It’s very important that child participates in projects to develop feelings as connection and respect.

Despite the difficulties during realization of the project, a child learns how to complete the started task or work which is of no small importance in formation of right actions.  Youngsters come across the obstacles when they try to follow the strict instructions.  These obstacles hinder the child to develop educational habits. While in the course of Designed Approach child obtains knowledge by being in the centre of event and being curious.

If child is involved in mental effort the learning and investigation may become a habit.  Consequently, long-term uninterrupted study plays big role. In this approach youngsters learn the physical and intellectual activities and habits by just participating in them.
 The younger child more important to give a semantic assignment using the knowledge obtained during the day in various activities and to endorse his/her involvement in the project.

The stages of designed approach

Beginning: upon choosing a topic, to discuss it with students, to arouse an interest, to make a list of analyses and questions;
Development of the project: Territorial lessons: field trips and related drafts, planning of the project, negotiations with competent individuals, work on the project.
Completion of the project: determination and estimation of the success, documentation, and presentation to family.
