Ilkadım Elele is a successful preschool that has been providing education to hildren of 0-6 ages since 1988. Our preschool proudly offers an education in a family-like and fun environment to your youngsters provided by highly qualified teachers. The school is equipped with the up-to-date equipment and educational materials.
The building of a school is a 3-floor villa that has 520m2 of active area and it is surrounded by a wonderful garden. The interior of the school is arranged accordingly, e.g. children’s health is very important for us therefore we painted our rooms with appropriate colors that are water-based, carpeted the floors with antiallergenic carpets and we supplied our rooms with educational materials and toys that conform to CE standards.
Our garden’s usable area is 240 m2 that can be used by three groups of kids at the same time; there’s a pavilion where one group can enjoy having lunch; a sand-box and a small area are good for kids to play and grow their own plants. We have got dog pet named Shashkin.
Our building is equipped with the latest security system such as: the gate with a centralized lock and video surveillance. Besides, the entrance of the building is always being watched by security personnel.
There are centralized speakers for broadcasting, wireless fire safety system, web cameras, and a switchboard in each class. The cameras give great opportunity for parents to observe their students during lessons or play time via equipment in our guest room or via Internet.
Electricity in main play room and bathrooms switch automatically to generator in case of power outage to which also central heating is connected.
Children have access to ADSL Internet under supervision of their teachers. They also enjoy the services of School Bus. Its model is Volkswagen of 2007 equipped with safety seat belts. A bus monitor, of course, takes care of your kids while riding our school bus.
Our daily timetable consists of lessons of Native Language, Sports, Arts, Cognitive Studies, and Academic lessons. A certain age of students take lessons on Computer, Natural Sciences, Music, Drawing, Drama, Ceramics and Clay, Horse back riding, and Dancing on appropriate days of the week and at appointed hours.
In addition to all activities above, our students regularly go to field trips. In order to enrich our youngsters’ inner world and to impart knowledge we visit museums, art galleries, observatory, and Turkish Association of Aviation; go to concerts, theatres and cinemas; take field trips to post office, fire station, bakery, bookstores and supermarkets. We also conduct lots of scientific experiments. Your kids also learn how to take care of our environment and nature by planting and growing trees, by keeping the garden clean and nice and etc.
Besides, our students have fun celebrating Birthdays; performing in front of parents and guests on New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day and so forth.
PROJECT: THE COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD AND WORLD CULTURES
The project “World Cultures and Children of the World” has been adopted during 2004-2005 based on a purpose of making our children “The Citizen of the World”.
Certain countries were chosen and related projects were worked out on defining the idea of current project. For instance, China was chosen as a country with large number of population to learn the concepts of numerous and uninhabited. Children learn interesting facts about Chinese children, what they eat, what games they play, their language, and the differences between our country and their country.
We have had negotiations with the Embassy of Chine followed by their visit to our school.
Russia was a country that we chose to explain the concepts of cold and hot. While studying Anderson’s works we talked about Denmark. The Embassies of China, Russia, Denmark, Japan and France have visited our school. The Cultural Attaché of South Africa has also been our guest to give a speech about wild and domesticated animals.
There were other special projects and activities on countries like for instance, coloring the flags of the countries; coloring the particular symbols typical of the certain country, e.g. Chinese chopsticks; finding and pointing out the national garments; painting the unprocessed Russian Matreshka dolls; cooking the authentic food of various countries and eating them; listening to guests’ stories and sometimes playing their national games.
We focused on formation of the comprehension that there are different cultures and languages in the world; on fascinating and unprejudiced beginning, countries and their clothes, differences between languages and authentic dishes, similarities and differences of children’s games and tales. This approach lets children understand the colorful variety of cultures and most important of all it lets them take first steps towards becoming “The Citizen of the World” by respecting different cultures and people and being flexible.
